To a total depth of 3610 feet Fortville No. 3 well intersected 62 feet of recent sand, 368 feet of Tertiary sand, silt and clay, 887 feet of Canomanian (Winton Series, Blanchewater Formation in part at least) sandstones, siltstones and dolomite; 1243 feet of Albian - Aptian shales (Tambo and Roma Series, Marree Formation); 445 feet of transitional sandstones and siltstones; 490 feet of sandstone at present correlated with the Mooga Sandstone resting on schist bedrock at 3495 feet. Drilling ceased in schist at 3610 feet.
