Talc generally is mined selectively with resultant wastage of reserves due to the discarding of low grade material. In addition selective mining tends to disregard small pockets of high grade material and overall mining costs are high. An investigation was made to determine whether low grade talc could be upgraded by mineral beneficiation procedures. Material from Mount Fitton was selected for the investigation. A test programme was undertaken consisting of screening, high tension, magnetic, flotation and photometric methods.
