The Australian Precambrian stratigraphy is discussed with the aid of rock correlation data obtained from the Bureau of Mineral Resources and radiogenic isotopic age determinations made by the Department of Geophysics, Australian National University. An Australian Precambrian time scale is proposed and referred to four major Precambrian geosynclinal sequences in Australia. Several diagrams outline tentative correlations of South Australian rock units with the proposed Australian time-rock scale.
