Geological sections drawn across the CHOWILLA 4-mile mapsheet area have been prepared from drillers' lithologs of 36 bores. The existence of a number of distinctive marker horizons and paleontological age determinations enable a provisional stratigraphic correlation of Tertiary units to be made across the basin. A resume of its geological history has been attempted.
