Aeromagnetic anomalies mapped at Mount Woods and to the south were investigated for their iron ore potential by conducting a low-level aeromagnetic survey and by performing a geological reconnaissance and acquiring ground magnetic and gravity data. The Mount Woods anomaly results from outcropping Precambrian metasediments containing sparse magnetite: therefore subsurface testing cannot be recommended. The southern anomaly is devoid of Precambrian outcrops: here seven rotary cored drillholes testing ground magnetic anomalies confirmed the occurrence of subcropping metasediments similar to those outcropping at Mount Wood.
