Irregular oxidised orebodies up to about 3 feet thick, containing copper carbonates, quartz, sphaerocobaltite (cobalt carbonate) and wad (hydrated manganese oxide), occupy both shear zones aligned parallel with bedding, and crush zones developed across the bedding. There are present also many veins of barren quartz or jasper, with associated iron oxides. The host rocks are a shattered dolomitic sequence that overlies the equivalent of the Copley Quartzite (Burra Group), and occurs within the Paralana Fault zone, 9½ miles north-east of Balcanoona Homestead. Winzes should be sunk or deepened, and rises continued within nos 1 and 2 adits. Deep trenches should be blasted across the disturbed zone at the southern end of the crest of the ridge.
