A brief inspection of the workings, situated 120 miles west-northwest of Oodnadatta, showed that both precious and common opal occur in arenaceous sediments which have been affected by the Tertiary laterite forming process. Mining and living conditions are less attractive than at either Andamooka or Coober Pedy. Further mapping is required to establish the age of the host rock, which may be either lower Palaeozoic or Mesozoic.
