Copper carbonates are sporadically distributed throughout steeply dipping mica schist in a zone up to about 70 ft. wide. The host rocks have been regarded as overturned metamorphosed Burra Group (Torrensian) beds resting on the Aldgate Sandstone though the possibility they cannot be discounted that they may be Archaean rocks lying unconformably below the Adelaide System. Samples have revealed sections containing 3% to over 5% copper but the overall grade over the whole zone is apparently less than 1%. Surface sampling is hampered by superficial deposits. Probable ore reserves are estimated at 172,300 tons down to adit level (80 ft.) containing at least 1,327 tons of copper, which might be extracted by opencutting. About 205,000 tons containing 1,575 tons of copper lie below adit level. It is likely that the mineralised zone extends farther southwards. Acid leaching and precipitation tests by Australian Mineral Development Laboratories have been encouraging, and production of copper cement has started.
