The request to investigate the site of a proposed 4 cell concrete silo to be built in the railway yards at Wasleys, was received in a letter dated 19th February, 1964, from Mr. P.T. Sanders, General Manager, South Australian Cooperative Bulk Handling Ltd. The small township of Wasleys is 37 miles from Adelaide on the railway line to Hamley Bridge. The site ground conditions were explored by drilling two shallow vertical percussion holes, the deepest to 65 feet total depth. Open and sealed push-tube samples were obtained over selected depth intervals during the drilling, to provide undisturbed soil material for undergoing penetration tests.
