The request to investigate the site of a proposed housing subdivision at Flagstaff Gardens (Area D) was received in a letter dated 9th March, I965 from the Town Planners Office. The site was inspected on 4th May, I965 in company with Mr. D.H....

The request to investigate the site of a proposed housing subdivision at Flagstaff Gardens (Area D) was received in a letter dated 9th March, I965 from the Town Planners Office. The site was inspected on 4th May, I965 in company with Mr. D.H. Stapledon and Mr. J.K. Taylor, Soils consultant. As rock was found to outcrop over a large portion of the subdivision, a reconnaissance survey was carried out to delineate the rock exposures and areas covered by soil and float. Eight test pits, variously dug from 3 to 9 feet deep, have been examined to assess the nature and depth of the soil mantle.
