Gas was reported effervescing from a water bore of 256 feet depth near Ki Ki, South Australia. The water was sampled on May 11, 1965, but hydrocarbons were detected in the gas above the water in the sample bottle. There was a petroliferous smell from the bore during sampling. Palaeontological examination of mixed sludges suggests the bore may have passed through the Oligocene Ettrick Formation into the Eocene Buccleuch Group.
