An area near Talgarry in New South Wales has been investigated as a possible source of rock for the Chowilla Dam Project. The investigation has included 76 power auger holes totalling 1407 feet and 36 diamond drill holes totalling 365 feet in depth. A fine-grained white limestone occurs in several lenticular bands up to 3 feet thick within an area of about 160,000 square yards. The quantity of usable material is estimated at less than 8000 cubic yards and the deposit has therefore been abandoned as a possible source of rip-rap.
