A ferruginous dolomite deposit four miles northwest of Cleve has been tested by diamond drilling for the Highways and Local Government Department. Much of the core recovered was fresh dolomite, but leached dolomite, kunkar capping and low core recovery have reduced estimated reserves of sound dolomite suitable for bituminous surface treatment screenings from 120,000 cubic yards to 55,000 cubic yards above the 70 foot contour level. The proportion of sound dolomite recovered by drilling is considered to be insufficient to allow exploitation of the deposit.
