In a letter dated 16th June, 1966 from the Government Town Planner to the Director of Mines, advice was sought regarding the suitability of a site at Bedford Park for the construction of a hospital. The site is within the triangular area bounded by Sturt, South and Marion Roads, known as the Sturt Road Triangle. It has been assumed that the hospital will be comparable in size to the Queen Elizabeth at Woodville. The results of a recent geophysical survey in the site area have caused some concern regarding the suitability of the site, as they show it to lie along the line of the Eden-Burnside Fault Zone.
