The property known as Euria, located about 8 miles north-east of Bookabie and occupying an area of 655 square miles, has been leased by Mr. E.M. Price, who at present is running about 1500 sheep on the property. There are no known sources of fresh underground water apart from a small intermittent supply at Euria Well. Mr Price has drilled 5 bores in the vicinity of Yangoonaby and Euria hills but these were all dry, having reached granite at shallow depth. One additional bore has been drilled close to the homestead and this was completed at 103 feet, after penetrating salt water. Mr Price requires water for stock and originally requested permission to drill near Bookabie, on a road reserve between properties owned by J. Miller and the Mahar brothers. There were strong objections from Messrs Mahar and Miller, who considered that the drilling of an additional bore in the area would cause their supplies to become salty. As a result, an inspection of the area was made.
