In the light of accumulated stratigraphic and foraminiferal data a re-examination has been made of the Willunga Bore W.B. 1 , drilled in 1951 - 1952 3½ miles east of the coastal type section of the Tertiary sequence in the Willunga Sub-basin and St. Vincent Basin. As at the type section, upper and lower cherty sequences may be recognized, the younger in the Janjukian (probably Oligocene) part of Port Willunga Beds, and the older in Upper Eocene Blanche Point Marls. Local range-zones have been recorded for selected foramlniferal species, including some 20 species not hitherto recorded from the bore. More confident correlation can now be made with Tertiary sequences elsewhere in the St.Vincent Basin, particularly in the subsurface of the Adelaide Plains.
