A programme of stratigraphic section measurement is envisaged in order to facilitate rock correlation and help outline the pattern of sedimentation in the Adelaide Geosyncline. In many areas measurement may be made on air photo enlargement, as has been done in Precambrian sections described near Spalding and Port Augusta. The sections near Spalding cover the pre-tillite sequence, Adelaide System, which has there a thickness of over 9,400 feet. Northeast of Port Augusta the Callanna Beds of the Adelaide System measure at least 1100 feet, the Burra Group 6000 feet, the Umberatana Group 3800 feet and the Wilpena Group at least 3200 feet.
