Five hundred drainage geochemical samples were collected in an area of 16½ square miles over the Mount Grainger Diapir and surrounding country rock, during February and March 1963. Results of this survey outlined an extensive copper, lead, zinc anomaly in the north-east of the area near the Medina mine, on the eastern limb of the Mount Grainger Anticline. Another anomalous copper zone is situated near the Penn mine, adjacent to the southern boundary of the diapir. Other anomalous results occur sporadically throughout the area. Four rock chip lines were sampled over the contact of the Appila Tillite and Tindelpina Shale Member on the flanks of the Mount Grainger Anticline. Results of this sampling indicate that copper and zinc contents are higher in the shale than in the Appila Tillite.
