Quaternary calcrete for surfacing gravel roads is limited. Cleaved and jointed shales and siltstones in the Tindelpina Shale Member are being exploited on the eastern limb of a syncline and test pits are recommended on the western limb. Low hills and ridges with thin soil cover near roads suitable for bulldozing. 13 existing pits and excavations and 9 potential sources are listed.
