Stream and soil sampling of the Cambrian sequence exposed between Willunga and Normanville has outlined several lead-zinc anomalies. Wagon drilling at the Forktree anomaly, 3½ miles NNE of Normanville, showed that widespread manganese oxides are probably responsible for the local concentration of base metals in soils and rocks. Further research into the origin of the lead and zinc is warranted to help evaluate other prospects in the area. Follow up investigation has been postponed until the Special Mining Lease now covering the area expires and company results become available.
