The Electricity Trust of South Australia is planning to construct additions to the substation at the corner of West Thebarton Road and Osman Place, Thebarton. This will Include a single-storey switch-house of modular block construction and covering about 1,700 sq.ft. A report on the foundation conditions for the switch-house building was requested in a letter dated 10th March 1970 from the Civil Works Engineer, Design, E.T.S.A. The site was explored by two test pits 4.6 and 5.00 ft. deep. Pit No 1 was located towards the western end of the proposed building and Pit No.2 towards the eastern end (Fig 1). The pits were excavated by a 20 in. diameter auger and inspected with Mr. Busbridge of E.T.S.A. on the 25th March 1970.
