Foundation conditions for a ferry berth in a small inlet at Cape Jervis were investigated by three diamond drill holes up to 15m deep. The sea floor at the site is composed of sediments of Permian age. Rocky outcrops of Kanmantoo Group greywackes form the sides of the inlet. The Permian sediments are unlikely to provide an adequate foundation for driven piles.
