The drilled section was subdivided into Cainozoic units. The Gambier - Lacepede contact is probably disconformable. The planktonic foraminiferal sequence in the Lacepede Formation was studied in detail, and important biostratigraphic datums selected. The Kongorong Sand should perhaps be reduced in status to a member of the Lacepede Formation.
