Data, on numerous Permian samples from the Troubridge Basin, prepared for foraminifera and acid-resistant microfossils, are listed. By far the most important is a dark grey clay from Waterloo Bay, Yorke Peninsula, in which were found foraminifera associated with organic-walled microplankton and pollen/spores. The latter, in allowing correlation with palynological stage 2 in eastern Australia and its biostratigraphic equivalent in the Perth Basin, confirm previous tentative estimates of a Lower Permian age for the Troubridge Basin sediments but put this date on a firm biostratigraphic basis for the first time. The environment is discussed, as is the significance of a Devonian assemblage of spores found in the same sample.
