On the 30th July 1971, the Mines Department received an order (No 0135175) from the Public Buildings Department, and a verbal request from Mr A Dancauakis, to investigate foundation conditions for a proposed workshop block at Panorama Technical College. Two cable tool holes were drilled at opposite corners of the proposed building. The two holes are approximately 190 feet apart. Hole CH1 was drilled from the 5th to 12th August 1971 to a depth of 49ft. Hole CH2 was drilled from the 13th to 14th August 1971 to a depth of 46. 5ft. Standard penetration tests were carried out at about 5 foot intervals in both holes. The standard penetration tests at 5ft, 10ft and 15ft in CH1 were performed in a 15 foot hole drilled 2.5 ft from CH1. Three sealed tube samples were taken from both holes.
