Photogeological interpretation of the islands of the continental shelf of the western coastline of South Australia indicates that all islands are crystalline basement. The larger islands have a thin cover of calcareous aeolianite and more recent sands. A recent field survey by R. Major (South Australian Department of Mines) has confirmed these findings.
