A cable tool hole has been drilled to investigate foundation conditions for a block pf high rise senior citizens apartments to be built by the South Australian Housing Trust at Elizabeth. It lies near the corner of Winterslow and Woodford Roads on Section 3135, Hd. Munno Para. The hole was drilled to a depth of 20 metres. Continuous open tube sampling was carried out, with Standard Penetration Tests performed every 2 metres. Sealed tube samples were not taken. Drilling commenced on 26th April, 1973 and was completed on 1st May, 1973. A Dutch Cone Penetrometer sounding was also carried out close to the bore site using a rig supplied by the Engineering and Water Supply Department. This sounding was taken to a depth of 14 metres. The location of the cable tool hole is shown on Fig. 1. A graphical log of the hole together with the Dutch Cone results is given in Fig. 2 and a detailed log is included in the Appendix.
