Palynological examination of 30 sidewall cores from GENEX Douglas Point No. 1 well over the Cretaceous - Tertiary boundary indicates a hiatus representative of the Lower and much of the Middle Paleocene. The Curdies Formation correlates with the Tricolporites lilliei Zone and possibly the upper part of the Nothofagidites senectus Zone and is therefore of Late Cretaceous age. Assemblages from the Wangerrip Group correlate with the Cupanieidites orthoteichus Zone and are typical of the later phase of the Dilwyn Formation.
