The Petwood-Callington-White Hill section of the proposed South Eastern Freeway was investigated by geological mapping, seismic refraction surveys and 10 diamond drill holes. Rocks exposed along the route are schists, meta-siltstones and meta-sandstones of the Cambrian Kanmantoo Group (Tapanappa Formation). Most cuts will be rippable but several will require blasting. Embankment foundations are considered to be good.
