A bore for the irrigation of grasses for a proposed 9 hole golf course was completed using the rotary method to a depth of 98m in Brighton Limestone. Well discharge and aquifer tests indicated an average value of Transmissivity (T) of 1347.0m3/day/m. Specific capacity for 8 hours (480 minutes) pumping is 312.9m3/day/m. The equation relating drawdown to the variables of discharge rate and time was found to be: St = (30 + 21 log10 t) Q + 2 x 104Q2 A pump setting of 80 to 85m with a discharge rate of the order of 10 litres per second is suggested. The large salinity increase (from 850 to 1625 mg/1) during the course of the main pump test requires further investigation. An intensive monitoring programme during operation is strongly suggested with results forwarded to this Department for comment and storage.
