The Transmissivity of the Murray-Glenelg Group Limestone aquifer at Wanbi, 150km east of Adelaide, is 200 metres3/day/m. A specific yield of 2.5 x 10-3 can be used for predicting the maximum effects of withdrawals, but is not considered a reliable figure. Proposed long term withdrawals 15km to the east, near Alawoona, will have significant effects on water levels in the area according to calculations based on the above aquifer parameters. If approval for any major withdrawal from the aquifer is granted it must be with the understanding that mining of the groundwater resource will take place.
