In a letter dated 3rd October, 1974, Er R.F Power of the Public Buildings Department requested drilling to determine foundation conditions for new buildings at, the Kilkenny Technical College. Three.cable tool holes were drilled to a maximum depth of 21m. Eight sealed tube samples were taken and three standard penetration tests were conducted on request of the engineer, Mr. S Warwyk. Drilling commenced on 18th October 1974 and was completed on 11th November 1974- The Engineering and water Supply Department completed six Dutch Cone Penetrometer holes (DC 1 to DC 6) during October and November 1974-. Geological logs of the holes, together with results from the Dutch Cone tests are given in the Appendices.
