Engineering investigations at the Monarto City Centre consisted of 8 diamond drill holes up to 15m deep, 25 backhoe test pits, detailed mapping and seismic refraction surveys. The area consists of Kanmantoo Group meta-sediments, in part overlain by a veneer of Tertiary and Quaternary sediments. Foundation and excavation conditions, fill, groundwater, permeability and seismic risk are discussed.
