Engineering geological investigations consisting of cable tool drilling of 10 holes up to 15.25m deep, penetration testing and seismic refraction surveys were completed at the proposed CBD of the Monarto city centre. Drilling encountered thin Quaternary and Tertiary units over highly weathered Kanmantoo Group schists. The study briefly addressed foundation and excavation conditions, fill, groundwater and permeability, and seismic risk.
