A new well, Kingston No. 10, was drilled on section 504, hundred of Lacepede to augment Kingston's water supply. A flow of water (5 1/sec) was obtained after intersecting Kongorong Sand at 86m. Subsequent well testing showed it to have a safe yield of 10 1/sec after allowing for interference effects caused by nearby pumping bores. It is recommended the pump be set at 25m below ground level. This setting depth may have to be altered if the above mentioned interference is greater than anticipated. Salinity of the artesian water is 800 mg/1 and full chemical analysis details indicate it is suitable for most household and garden uses. Aquifer thickness at the well is 11 metres, the maximum so far intersected by town water supply wells in the Kingston area. Additional supplies if ever required might therefore be sought further south - in a direction where there is apparent aquifer thickening.
