The proposed subdivision is underlain by an upper horizon of expansive dark brown silty clay 0.30 to 0.60m thick, above a red-brown silty clay both units being part of the Pooraka Formation. The red-brown silty clay is recommended as a foundation material, although test results indicate the two soils having similar properties. Only one small area, in the vicinity of pit 3 is believed to be unsuitable for house foundations.
