A survey of the hundred of Waitpinga has been carried out to locate all water wells, and to obtain all relevant information on them. Over 60 water wells and springs were located. Groundwater is obtained from Permian fluvioglacial sediments and from rocks of the Kanmantoo Group. Well yields range from 0.2 1/sec to 2.5 1/sec with salinities varying between 85 mg/1 and 9 500 mg/1. All springs located are permanent and from local knowledge i t appears that the number of springs has increased over the last 15 years, but the cause of this is unknown. Heavy metals derived from the Talisker Mine are polluting Campbell Creek. It is considered that local animals may be affected and that the area would make a suitable subject for an environmental study on the effects of this toxicity.
