Inkerman/Balaklava Coalfield Bore I411 penetrated a Tertiary succession consisting of Port Vincent Limestone and equivalents, (Early and Middle Miocene), Rogue Formation including the Port Julia Greensand Member (Late Eocene? and Oligocene) and Clinton Coal Measures (Middle and Late Eocene). The stratigraphic nomenclature of Stuart (1970), which is used in this investigation, is discussed and the units correlated with the scheme proposed by Reynolds (1953).
