A well survey was carried out in the Naracoorte Township and immediate environs in May and June 1976. 128 wells were located in the surveyed area, two thirds of these being in use, and of these, 11 were for drainage disposal. The remaining one third were not in use as owners were connected to the reticulated town supply. Obvious pollution (ie. smell, discolouration, high salinity etc) was found to be minimal as most houses are connected to a sewerage scheme. Only two wells in the surveyed area were used for disposal of water which could contaminate the water table aquifer.
