A well survey was carried out in Kalangadoo Township from July to September 1976. A total of 233 wells were located, most being used for domestic supply (33%) and drainage purposes (20%). 14% were backfilled with a further 5% not in use. Obvious contamination of wells (by smell) was common and is due to underground disposal of sewage effluent. Despite high bacterial counts in some bores, nitrate levels are reasonably low.
