In a regional soil sampling survey over Willyama Complex rocks on parts of the Outalpa 1:50 000 Sheet, 2443 samples were collected at 25 metres intervals on 54 lines roughly 1km apart. These samples were analysed for CU, PB, Zn, Au, Mn, Mo, Co, Ni, V, Zr and a few samples for W, Bi, Ag and Sn as well. Many Cu, Pb and Zn anomalies were located, the maximum values obtained being Cu 1, 710 p.p.m., Pb 230 p.p.m and Zn 1730 p.p.m. Rock types associated with anomalous metal values include calc-silicates, amphibolites, an iron formation, pelitic schists, layered quartz-mica schists and albite-rich rocks. This method of sampling should be an effective regional exploration method for other areas of the Willyama Complex.
