The hundred of Warrenben has little exploitable fresh underground water, the existing water occurring as thin layers overlying salt water. There are approximately 80 wells in use with relatively small supplies, with the odd well capable of 165 m3/day. Salinity ranges from 300 mg/1 to 20,000 mg/1. Water quality can quickly deteriorate by saline intrusion as a result of over pumping.
