A well survey of the hundred of Yankalilla was conducted to accurately locate all wells and update well information. About 100 wells were located with most of the groundwater being obtained from the Permian fluvioglacial sediments and from rocks of the Kanmantoo Group. Well yields range from 10 m 3/day to 660 m3/day with salinities varying between 200 mg/1 and 8 000 mg/1. The main land use is the grazing of livestock, with an increasing area being planted with pine forests. No groundwater pollution was detected at the time of the survey but it could occur with future development.
