Hydrogeological investigations have intensified in the Mount Gambier area, with emphasis on town water supplies, pollution monitoring and the confined aquifer. The transition from the Underground Waters Preservation Act to the Water Resources Act has been accomplished smoothly with no major problems apparent. Most recommendations made in an earlier progress report have been carried out. Present and future projects planned should require a geologist to be stationed at Mount Gambier for at least the next 3-5 years.
