Agate or banded chert nodules weather out of the Cambrian Andamooka Limestone over an area of several square kilometres south of the Stuart Creek Opal field. In places the agate nodules are concentrated into extensive deflation lag gravels. Banding is not well defined in the agate, and colour variation is only slight. The agate is considered to be of specimen quality only.
