A water well survey of the Hundred of Carribie on southern Yorke Peninsula was conducted to accurately locate all wells and to up-date hydrogeological information records about these wells. Almost 100 wells were located, with the groundwater in them being obtained from Bridgewater Formation sands and limestones. Well yields range from 20 m3/day to 660 m3/day, while groundwater salinities range from 300 mg/1 to 10,000 mg/1. The main land uses are cereal cropping, sheep and cattle grazing. Although no groundwater pollution was detected at the time of the survey, the potential for pollution to occur is great, especially with the anticipated future tourist development.
