Various petrophysical property measurements (total count radiometric, mag susceptibility and specific gravity) were made at 1-metre intervals on samples of stored drill core recovered from the hole depth range 210 m to 710 m (TD) in SADME Wilkinson 1 stratigraphic drillhole. However, the radiometric values recorded were subsequently rejected due to being unable to shield the spectrometer that was measuring the core samples from extraneous high background radiation levels that are present in the SADME Glenside Core Library, and because a reliable background radiation level could not be determined with which to standardise the total count measurements. [N.B. mag susc was recorded in cgs units, and SG in g/cc]. 5 or 6 major petrophysical subdivisions are indicated in the Early Cambrian Observatory Hill Beds, mainly defined by the magnetic susceptibility measurement values. Sulphide minerals appear to be the main cause of the magnetic effects. Non-magnetic fine sulphides, which provide a geochemical marker, require further investigation in other wells for possible economic mineralisation.
