Assessment south of Morgan of the Murray Group aquifer system has been obtained despite a lack of data. Very little information is available on other aquifer systems with only a few wells being completed in the Pliocene sands aquifer and 1 well intersecting the Buccleuch Beds. East of the River Murray, groundwater moves in a NW direction towards the river from the recharge areas near Pinnaroo, with increase in salinity and the chloride carbonate ratio. To the west, a significant gradient exists with groundwater flowing from probable recharge areas on the western margin, east towards the river. A steep gradient may exist close to the river which may enable significant inflows of saline groundwater (over 10 000 mg/l).
