Water well drilling for stock purposes in the Olary Ranges and southern Frome Embayment was successful with yields from 30-80 kilolitres per day, with salinity 1 800-6 000 mg/l in the fractured rock aquifers and 9 000-11 000 mg/l in a Tertiary palaeochannel of the Frome embayment. Paleochannels can be an important and reliable source of groundwater where survace water is unreliable.
