EML 3554, 9 km NW of Tumby Bay, contains 3 separate marble outcrops, each 40 metres wide, of similar mineralogy, which are isoclinally-folded Katunga Dolomite of the Hutchison Group of Lower Proterozoic age. The marble quarries where mapped, surveyed and sampled. In the northern and southern marble outcrops on the slope of Waterfall Creek, reserves are limited and problems are expected with access and quarrying. At the central outcrop, from which 720 tonnes have been produced since 1961, 100000 tonnes of marble are inferred. A near vertical vein of chrysotile asbestos is exposed in an old adit on the southern marble outcrop. The marble is used as coloured aggregate for construction panels, paving and swinnimg pool surrounds and is suitable as base course of marginal quality for sealing aggregate.
